CHILDREN FROM 26 SCHOOLS AND KINDERGARTENS PARTICIPATED IN 1-ST MARCH CHARITY BAZAAR AT THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE

Children and students from 26 schools and kindergartens brought a festive mood to the Ministry of Education and Science on the day of Baba Marta. They participated in a charity bazaar, where they presented martenitsa made by themselves.

The event was opened by the Prime Minister Acad. Nikolay Denkov and the Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov, and among the guests were the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov, the Minister of Culture Krastyu Krastev, MPs, representatives of trade union and employer organizations in education, etc.

“The martenitsa of this bazaar are made by the children and students. The proceeds from their sales are given to the schools themselves and a large part of them will be used for charity. Therefore, I want to thank the children, students and their teachers. Be always skillful and good”, said the Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov at the opening of the bazaar.

The Prime Minister Acad. Nikolay Denkov noted that today’s holiday is Bulgarian, has lived through the centuries and will always unite us.

Today, the capital’s educational system is presented in its entirety, pointed out the head of the Regional Education Department of Sofia-city, Vanya Kastreva. She pointed out that private kindergartens and schools, municipal kindergartens, as well as state and municipal schools participate in the bazaar. Among the educational institutions there are those from the central part of Sofia, as well as from more remote areas of the Sofia Municipality. Some of the schools have long-standing traditions in various charitable events and initiatives. Seven vocational high schools with diverse profiles and specialties – high technologies, economy, agriculture, tourism, clothing, textiles, design – also presented their martenitsa.

They all showed great creativity and ingenuity in making their white and red thread items, many using the skills they learned in the classroom to make them. Some of the children made their martenitsa on the spot in front of the guests.
