THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE TURNED INTO A CLASSROOM FOR ART, ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND BIOLOGY LESSON

Students from 140 Secondary School “Ivan Bogorov” – Sofia presented an integrative lesson in Bulgarian dances, English language, biology and health education at the Ministry of Education and Science . Seventh-graders with advanced training in choreography and twelfth-graders with the profession “Dancer” – Bulgarian dances participated in the exercise lesson. So they joined the initiative of the Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov “Open classroom at the Ministry of Education and Science”.

Minister Tsokov thanked the students and congratulated the pedagogical specialists for the effective teaching of integrated knowledge.

“You showed today how modern education happens,” said the minister. In his words, integrated lessons open up new opportunities for students – while they learn, they also experience. “This is exactly the competence approach – not just to dance, but through the experience to learn new things”, said the minister. He also emphasized the good practice of students teaching other students, which was included in the lesson.

During the class, the students strengthened their Bulgarian dance skills, updated their knowledge of the anatomy of the human body and the physiology of bones and muscles, discussed how to protect themselves from injuries and discussed the parts of the human body in English. To combine the traditional with the innovative, teachers used an interactive display, mobile phones, the MES Digital Backpack and other electronic resources.

The children showed skills to correctly perform the exercises from the exercise. During the class, the young people danced the choir to prepare for the National Competition “Folklore Pletenitsa”.

The twelfth graders showed English stretching and bending exercises to the seventh graders – this is how they presented their knowledge of a foreign language to the profession. The goal was to motivate the younger ones to continue on their path in the professional class.

“Thank you, you have changed the ministry,” said Prof. Tsokov at the end of the lesson. He presented a plaque of the Ministry of Education and Science for the school to the principal Maya Zafirova and gave books to all the students.

The idea of opening the public institution for conducting lessons, which contributes to increasing the social skills of students, is a continuation of the support of the Ministry of Education and Science for educational activities outside the classroom through the national programmes “Bulgaria – Educational Routes”, “Innovations in Action”, etc. Among the places where lessons are held are museums, galleries, public libraries, observatories, planetariums and scientific institutes. The Ministry of Education and Science is the first ministry in this initiative.

The lesson was prepared and conducted by choreographer Mario Gerginov and his colleagues in English, Yavor Zarkov, and Anife Ashimova, in biology and health education. The accompanists were Emil Dimitrov and Kristiyan Kazakov.
