2. A SECONDARY SCHOOL IN SOFIA WILL BE AMONG THE FIRST SECONDARY SCHOOLS TO STUDY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN CLASSROOM

Second Secondary School “Acad. Emilian Stanev” from the next school year will start offering artificial intelligence programming and its application in various public spheres. This became clear during the celebrations on the occasion of the institution’s patron saint, at which the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Galin Tsokov was the official guest. It is planned to have a separate professional class with application after the 7th grade, in which children will learn about this fastest growing field of information technology.

“Historically, your school has always been among the innovative and those institutions that have changed the whole system. We congratulate you for keeping these traditions even today and constantly looking for opportunities to be even better and more knowledgeable,” Prof. Tsokov addressed the guests. He also emphasized the role of the directors who have contributed to its success over the years. The minister also drew attention to the fact that here is the only school innovation in the country related to the development of leadership teams.

The head of the regional education department of the city of Sofia, Vanya Kastreva, who is also a long-time director of the school, also congratulated them on the holiday and wished to continue the traditions of more innovations and new successes. “For more than 20 years, this school has been an emotion for me. I walked through its door with the motivation to keep its innovative spirit, and I am glad that many of the colleagues I have worked with continue to follow this mission to this day,” said Dr. Kastreva.

The director of the school, Dr. Eleonora Lilova, added that in recent years the school has increased not only in terms of the number of children – from 1,200 to 1,500 students, but also in terms of the number of successes achieved.

During the event, Minister Tsokov presented certificates to teachers and received a special gift-greeting from the children of the school. He was also a guest at a performance organized by the students and awarded the winners of the “Get Smart” competition, similar to the TV show of the same name.
