DEPUTY MINISTER MITEVA: WE WILL ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO USE TECHNOLOGY FOR LEARNING RATHER THAN ENTERTAINMENT

Technologies to stimulate children to learn, and not to use them only for entertainment, is one of the goals of the vision for digitalization of education, which the Ministry of Education and Science is preparing. This is what the Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nataliya Miteva told school principals from all over the country. She recalled that one of the results of the PISA survey is that Bulgarian students are among the most frequently using technical devices, but for entertainment.

At the forum organized by the Union of Heads of the National Education System, Nataliya Miteva presented part of the prepared reforms in preschool and school education.

The Deputy Minister of Education introduced the management of schools with the guidelines developed by the Ministry of Education and Science for working with artificial intelligence, which contain instructions and specific situations to help teachers, students and parents in various pedagogical scenarios and operations in the learning process to achieve educational goals.

Nataliya Miteva reminded that a working group has already been formed in the Ministry of Education and Science to prepare a vision for new curriculum that form competences. The future change of the formats of the national external evaluations of students is also in this direction. The new “Education” programme envisages large-scale investments aimed at changing the current training model to a more competency-based and skill-oriented one.

For the schools with lower results in the national exams, additional support is planned and plans will be developed to help them, Deputy Minister Nataliya Miteva said.
