The update of the Roadmap for Research Infrastructure of the Republic of Bulgaria for the period 2020 – 2027 was successfully completed in April 2021. The strategic document includes 51 infrastructures, including 15 Centers of Competence and Centers of Excellence, developed under the Operational Program “Science and Education for Smart Growth”. This will allow for an upgrade of the capacity and scientific potential of Bulgaria in areas such as information and communication technologies, mechatronics and clean technologies, health and biotechnology, new technologies in the creative and recreational industries. The consistent scientific policy and investments in scientific infrastructure affirm the national commitment and participation in 8 existing European research consortia (ERICs) and the participation in 5 partnerships to establish new ones.
